CatchSignal by FishyNW is a private fishing journal and regional catch community. This policy explains what information we collect, why we use it, how fishing-location privacy works, and the controls available to you.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create or use a CatchSignal account, we may store your email address, Viewable Name, profile picture, biography, profile visibility, region, fishing interests, units, notification preferences, and other settings you choose.

Catch and journal information

When you log a catch, CatchSignal may store the species, measurements, waterbody, date and time, fishing method, lure or gear, notes, disposition, uploaded photos, selected map location, and the privacy setting you choose.

Community and technical information

CatchSignal may store followed anglers and waterbodies, reports, moderation history, rewards, points, badges, titles, and trusted-publishing status. Web hosting and security systems may also record technical information such as IP address, browser or device type, timestamps, cookies, and error logs.

Fishing-location privacy

Your selected catch location is treated as sensitive fishing information. CatchSignal supports Private, Waterbody only, Approximate area, and Exact location privacy choices. Exact coordinates are public only when you explicitly choose Exact location. Approximate locations are intentionally displaced from the precise point you selected.

Read the full Catch and Location Privacy Policy.

Photos and media

Photos you upload may be resized, converted to an optimized format, and processed for display in CatchSignal. CatchSignal does not use submitted user photos for unrelated advertising, merchandise, social-media promotion, or email campaigns without separate permission.

Read the Photo and Content Submission Policy.

How we use information

  • Operate and secure CatchSignal accounts.
  • Store your private fishing journal and catch history.
  • Display approved community catches according to their privacy settings.
  • Provide map, waterbody, follow, notification, reward, and leaderboard features.
  • Moderate submissions, prevent abuse, troubleshoot errors, and improve reliability.
  • Respond to support, privacy, export, and deletion requests.

How information is shared

Approved community information may appear in CatchSignal and privacy-controlled FishyNW features according to the privacy settings selected for the catch and profile. Limited information may be processed by service providers needed for hosting, email delivery, maps, security, backups, and technical operation.

CatchSignal does not sell your personal information.

Maps and third-party services

CatchSignal uses Google Maps services for map and geographic features. Other service providers may process limited information needed to deliver hosting, email, security, backups, and related technical functions. Their own privacy terms may apply to their services.

Cookies and sessions

CatchSignal and WordPress use cookies or similar browser storage to keep you signed in, maintain your session, remember preferences, restore unfinished form information, and provide account security and core application functionality.

Retention and account deletion

Account information is retained while your account is active and as reasonably needed for security, legal compliance, backups, and dispute resolution. You can request an account-data download or delete your account from CatchSignal Settings. Existing community catch reports may be anonymized where retention is necessary, while their existing location privacy is preserved.

Read Account Deletion and Data Retention.

Your choices

  • Edit your profile and preferences.
  • Choose privacy separately for individual catches.
  • Edit or remove catches and photos where those controls are available.
  • Control supported email notifications.
  • Download account data.
  • Request account deletion.

Security

CatchSignal uses reasonable technical and administrative safeguards intended to protect account and catch information. No internet-connected service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their passwords and devices.

Children’s privacy

CatchSignal is a general-audience fishing service and is not directed to children under 13. If we learn that an under-13 child provided personal information, we will take reasonable steps to remove it, subject to legitimate security and legal retention needs.

Read Children’s Privacy.
